{"id":16,"date":"2014-02-13T00:02:34","date_gmt":"2014-02-13T00:02:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hawaiiquiltguild.dreamhosters.com\/?page_id=16"},"modified":"2026-08-31T20:47:58","modified_gmt":"2026-09-01T06:47:58","slug":"community-service","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hawaiiquiltguild.dreamhosters.com\/?page_id=16","title":{"rendered":"Community Service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">N\u0101 Lima ALOHA (THE HANDS THAT LOVE)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> N\u0101 Lima Aloha was established in July 2004 as a community service to support various organizations and agencies throughout Oahu and to support relief operations in other areas as well.<br \/>\nThrough the donations of smaller-sized quilts, we share our aloha with displaced, needy, or critically ill children and adults.<br \/>\nOrganizations we have contributed to in the past include various senior citizen convalescent homes, the Veterans Administration Center for the Aging, hospitals, abuse shelters, and foster care facilities.<br \/>\nIn the past year, we have donated over 300 items throughout the island.<br \/>\nFabric donations are always welcome, so please contact Arlene Adams or Linda Dayag if you\u2019d like to contribute!<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Several people asked about the sizes of quilts. Linda made the following suggestions:<br \/>\nAdult (male\/female) 36 x 36 (comfort quilts for palliative care at Straub Hospital. Size is per their request);<br \/>\nChildren 42 x 48; Adults (Leahi Hospital) 52 x 62; Vets 60 x 70.<br \/>\nThese are suggestions; they can be slightly larger or smaller (but nothing smaller than 36 x 36)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Latest news&#8230;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We received the following during July: Ellen Huntley 11 kihei pili; Rose Craven 2 sheet sets; Jeannie Salmon 5 quilts; Betty Steljes 10 pillowcases; Pillowcase kits: Kaila Wang 17.<br \/>\nDeliveries: Mary Wunch \u2013 Children\u2019s Justice Center 4 quilts, 6 pillowcases, 5 kihei pili, Shriner\u2019s Hospital 4 quilts, 6 pillowcases, 5 kihei pili; Kay Anguay \u2013 Fisher House 4 quilts, 6 pillowcases, 5 kihei pili; Rose Craven \u2013 U.S. Vets 2 quilts, 3 sheet sets; Margaret Teruya \u2013 Kapiolani Hospital Palliative Care Unit 8 quilts, 1 kihei pili.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<strong>NA LIMA ANNUAL REPORT \u2013 JULY 1, 2025-JUNE 30, 2026<\/strong><br \/>\nChildren\u2019s Justice Center \u2013 73 quilts, 169 pillowcases, 17 kihei pili, 38 bears;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Shriner\u2019s Hospital \u2013 72 quilts, 107 quilts, 107 pillowcases, 16 kihei pili;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Fisher House \u2013 69 quilts, 69 pillowcases, 18 kihei pili;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">U.S. Vets \u2013 62 quilts, 31 sheet sets;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Kapiolani Hospital \u2013 30 quilts; Straub Hospital -100 quilts;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Waianae Homeless Shelter \u2013 60 kihei pili, 60 pillowcases, 11 bears.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">TOTALS: 407 Quilts, 342 Pillowcases, 111 Kihei pili, 48 Bears, 31 Sheet sets.
